A flag hosting ceremony was held at the Residence in Astana on 14 August 2016 to mark the special occasion of 70th Independence Day of Pakistan.

Ambassador Abdul Salik Khan hoisted the national flag. Embassy officers/officials and members of Pakistani community residing in Astana attended the ceremony.

The Ambassador read out the messages of President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan received on this occasion from Islamabad.

In his address, the Ambassador thanked the community for their participation in the ceremony. Speaking about recent killings and atrocities in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK), the Ambassador condemned the oppression being perpetrated by the Indian government. Referring to dedication of this Independence Day to the Freedom of Kashmir by the Prime Minister, the Ambassador reiterated Pakistan’s political, moral and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people.

Special prayers were offered for the Shuhada of the recent Quetta attack.
